Friday Finds Under Fifty: The Last-Minute Santa Edition

Ho Ho Ho!

So, you’ve got kids on your gift list and nothing to give them? Fret not, for behold, I bring you tidings of great deals which shall appeal to kids both young and old.

There’s a certain time in life when a lot of kids become interested in magic tricks. If there’s a budding David Copperfield in your life (the magician, not the Victorian orphan), then you might want to head over to Smartbargains and take a look at this:

Coin Trick Kit It’s the Melissa and Doug Apprentice Magician coin trick game. Included are instructions and tools needed to master sixteen different coin tricks. It may or may not get the kid cool status in Home Room, but it will definitely build logic and dexterity, in addition to hours of fun.

Best of all, you’ll save big time. The retail price is a cool $50.00, but at Smartbargains it’s just $34.99.

Friday Finds Under Fifty: the Teeny Edition

I always say it’s never too early to start being superfantastic. Choosing quality for your little tykes will help them along the path from day one. Of course, it’s also never too early to teach your small ones about careful shopping, either. That’s why this week’s Friday Finds is all about big deals for little people.

Kids Floral Play Tea Set The Tea for Three play tea set is a great example of this concept. Made of sturdy, cheerful enamelware, it comes complete with a teapot (which looks more like a coffee pot, but would work for either beverage or hot chocolate), three tea cups, three saucers, and three plates. The whole set is decorated in a delightful flower design with grasshoppers, bumblebees, and ladybugs. It’s recommended for ages three and up…and my guess is that a kid who enjoys this would continue to do so for years to come, as well as appreciate the charm of a proper afternoon tea.

Best of all, if you order it now from The Land of Nod, you can save enough to fund the scones and clotted cream! The original price was $54.00, but it’s been marked down to a thrifty $39.00.

Friday Finds Under Fifty: The Black Friday Edition

Ah, Black Friday. The day that shopper and retailer both anticipate and dread in equal measures. The day when the Christmas shopping season officially starts bringing full coffers to businesses and massive congestion to mall parking lots.

The best thing about Black Friday is, of course, all the great deals offered up to the consumer. The worst thing about it is all the crowding, jostling, and general lack of holiday cheer among the throngs of customers who want the deals but hate the lines.

So what does the savvy shopper do? She shops online, of course!

No getting elbowed in the ribs while standing in line, no strange kids running amok, no canned Christmas music unless you want it, no undertrained and overwhelmed holiday hire cashiers to shortchange you or direct you to the opposite area of the store from the item you want…online shopping is the perfect cure for Mall Malaise. And in the interest of making the experience both pleasant and reasonably priced, I’ve gone out and hunted down some superfantastic holiday deals that may inspire you to be the best Secret (or not-so-secret) Santa ever.

Cocoanut Paradise Bath Set The Coconut Paradise Bath and Body set
is the perfect gift for the woman (and we all know her) who needs to slow down and pamper herself once in a while. There’s coconut milk bath gel, moisturizing body lotion, bath salts, an exfoliating pumice stone, and a body puff. All of it comes in an adorably whimsical wire clawfoot bathtub. Even the original price of $39.99 would have made it a find under fifty, but it’s now 38% off at Amazon
for a cool $24.99. At that price, you could get several for those last-minute gifts you didn’t expect to need.
