Three-Day Designer Clothing Sale at Bluefly!

Saturday, June 28th, 2008
By Twistie

That’s right, my pretties! Bluefly.com is having a three-day sale on their fabulous selection of already discounted designer fashions for both men and women and it starts today!

Now through July first, you’ll get an extra 15% off on names like: Vera Wang, Alexia Admor, Michael Kors, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and dozens more. Save on dresses, blouses, pants, sweaters, shorts, jackets, all by the top names in today’s fashion world.

My personal pick if I could have just one thing would be this fabulous yellow (they call it champagne, but it looks a delicious buttercup yellow to me on my monitor) evening gown by Nicole Miller.

Nicole Miller Yellow Evening Gown Made of 100% silk with an elegant halter neckline, it sports a graceful sweep train in back. It will get you noticed for all the right reasons.

Originally, this lucious evening gown would have cost you $345.00. Bluefly usually carries it for $207.00. Right now through the first, however, it will set you back just $175.95. At that price, I’ll come up with an excuse to wear it.

A Little Black Dress, Yes, But I Like It, Too

Regular readers of my works may be aware of my personal aversion to the Little Black Dress as a staple of women’s wardrobes. All too often it is merely a case of being safe in lieu of being superfantastic. All too often it’s about disappearing rather than shining. And contrary to popular opinion, not every woman looks her best in black.

However, when a dress that is little and black is also superfantastic, I am more than happy to see it on a woman who wears little and black to great advantage. Audrey Hepburn, for instance, lived in little black dresses because she looked amazing in them. When I spotted this pretty linen/rayon blend frock at Coldwater Creek, I couldn’t help thinking that it was a perfect Audrey dress.

Coldwater Creek Little Black Dress The simple princess cut is flattering to most female figures, and the white chiffon trim brings a graceful sense of playfulness to the otherwise slightly stark design. It’s also available not only in regular sizes, but selected women’s and petite sizes, as well!

Best of all, it’s on a great sale. Originally priced at $129.00, it’s been marked down to just $61.99!

With the advent of spring and summer weather, it’s important to have a really fabulous party dress that can also beat the heat. It needs to be gorgeous, too. Being versatile enough to be worn to day or evening events is also a useful thing.

Liz Claiborne brings us this smashing tulip red dress that will look superfantastic whether you wear it to an outdoor wedding or a cocktail party or a theater opening.

Liz Claiborne Tulip Red Dress The flirty lines and empire waist are trend-perfect for the season, but the subtle Swiss dot on tonal plaid pattern give it a twist that will express an individual style. But wait, there’s more! With 100% cotton shell lined in 100% polyester, it’s machine washable for easy care.

Best of all, it’s on sale right now at Overstock.com. Once upon a time you’d have had to spend $119.00 to get this great designer dress. Not anymore. Overstock.com has it for just $69.99. That’s a savings of 41%.

So be the lady in red at your next event. Nobody will forget you.

A Little Black Dress for Those Hot Summer Nights

I am not a fan of the little black dress. I think - nay, I know that there are plenty of women who not only don’t look their best in black, but who don’t look at all good in black. Black is not a color of celebration or joy, in my book. I don’t like to see it at parties.
I am not a fan of strapless dresses. Most of the time, they fail to flatter and become both uncomfortable and annoying to deal with. Most women who wear them spend half the evening with their thumbs down their bodices trying to pull them up to an acceptable level of coverage. Those with racks of doom spend nine-tenths of the evening that way. Not superfantastic.

I’m not even a fan of the handkerchief hem despite my fondness for Stevie Nicks. I like a skirt that’s pretty much all one length.

So why is it that I’m utterly captivated by this strapless, handkerchief-hemmed little black dress by Alexia Admor? That, I cannot tell you. I can only say that I find it charming and fun.

Alexia Admor strapless LBD Well, that and I can tell you that Bluefly has it at an incredible deal. The retail value is listed at $165.00. Bluefly usually sells it for $99.00. Right now, though, it’s on clearance for just $61.99! At that price, it might just be the perfect prom dress for a girl you know.

Here Come the Bridesmaids?

One of the biggest annoyances in planning a wedding is coming up with the bridesmaid’s outfits. It’s hard to find one style that comes in everyone’s size, looks good on each woman, and fits even a tight budget…let alone will be something that can be worn later on!

This morning I got an unlikely solution from a peek at the Newport News website. They’re having a huge dress sale right now, and I spotted something that would be a great solution to the bridesmaid question.

Newport News Bridesmaid This pretty dress features soft pleating that is forgiving to most figures and comes in three lucious bright colors. The flower is a detachable brooch that can be moved to where you like it best or simply left off, if preferred.

It comes in women’s and petite sizes as well as misses, and has been marked down from $89.00 to just $69.00. But the thing that really made me think of bridesmaids is the fact that if you buy two or more right now, you’ll get another 20% off at checkout!

There’s even a matching sandal which is also on sale right now.

At $29.00, it’s hard to go too far wrong.

Springtime is perfect for bright, vibrant colors and fun details. That’s what makes this fabulous Alexia Admor stretch lace tank dress so perfect right now.

Alexia Admor Lace Tank Dress Salmon pink stretch lace and hip-grazing gold trim make this a fun and flirty party dress that will bring a smile to many a face.

Just don’t tell them how little you paid for it! The retail value is $176.00. Bluefly.com originally carried it for a thrifty $105.00. Now, though, they’ve reduced it to just $61.99! That’s well over $100.00 in savings!
